Straight-line cutting. Pattern Cutting

Alumax-Dnepr provides services of straight-line, curvilinear cutting and milling for a bend of aluminium composite panels, various types of plastic and wood.

Format cutting machines ensure fast and high precision cutting of materials. Permissible cutting area is 6,000 x 2,200 millimetres (if necessary, milling of sheets longer than 6,000 millimetres is possible). This equipment is capable to perform large volumes of work on cutting and milling of various sheet materials as quickly as possible, and to simplify the process of making composite facade panels.

Materials are cut according to the customer's terms of reference optimizing the material costs (longitudinal and transverse cutting). If you place an order for cutting, it is necessary to take into account the additional costs of a material of 4 millimetres (saw blades).

The width of initial work pieces is determined by the width of the aluminium sheet, i.e. 1,240 mm and 1,540 mm. The length of initial work pieces is determined by the customer's terms of reference by grouping the design sizes in order to minimize waste and reduce labour costs. 

Curvilinear Cutting

Alumax-Dnepr provides services of curvilinear cutting of material, which is possible due to the use of CNC machine. The size of the operational field is 2,000 x 3,000 mm.

Requirements for customer's designs in curvilinear cutting:

  • A file shall contain only vector objects intended for cutting in the curves and terms of work.
  • The size of objects in a file shall be given in millimetres. Objects should have a scale of 1:1 for the final milling product.
  • A vector image in a file for cutting should not contain the following:
  1. Broken points in closed circuits.
  2. Overlays of contours and double lines.
  3. Technological gaps between objects should be at least 10 millimetres.
  4. Minimum possible hole is 3.2 millimetres.

Milling For a bend

The contours and mounting details of cassettes are formed by bending along the milling grooves, while the precision of the cassette contours is based on the quality and accuracy of location of the milling grooves. The immersion depth of the milling cutter is constantly monitored during milling. With a material thickness of 4 mm, the remaining layers are b = 0.7 ... 0.8 mm at the depth of cutter immersion c = 3.2 mm. The stability of these parameters determines the straightness of an angle in a bend and the constancy of the bending radius in a bend r = 2 mm, which excludes damage to the paint and varnish coating and the outer layer of aluminium, that is, the external characteristics of the milling quality.

Panels are milled on the inside by a disk or a finger mill. The bending radius is determined by the cutter shape and immersion depth. The material is well processed by milling machines, manual milling and other types of machining.

Soldering. Gluing

To create volumetric elements, parts of the curvilinear and flat form are combined without traces of hardware therefore it is advisable to apply soldering or bonding parts in the assemblies. For each individual case, an individual assembly should be developed that takes into account configuration of parts and features of the material technology.


Parts can be formed using three-high rollers, while the range of the minimum diameter of rolling is limited by the diameter of the upper forming shaft, and the maximum diameter is not limited. The surfaces of small diameters are better made by pressure moulding, with the minimum diameter of 90 mm.
